SAFE HOUSE AND POLICE  OFFICES IN PALILULA

Palilula Municipality in early fall, will be richer for the two institutions. In the part of the Institute for the Education of Youth Nis, that the City took over for new purposes with the support of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and Ministry of Interior, will open the first regional safe house in the area of south-eastern Serbia, and a police office Palilula. The contractor on the adaptation of the building "safe house", which covers about 400 square meters and will accommodate up to 40 women and children victims of domestic violence, is the construction company “Monument Engineering”, Nis. This space was visited delegation of the City with Mayor Mr. Milos Simonovic; a delegation of Palilula Municipality with President Prof Dr Igor Novakovic.

For the initial phase of adaptation of "safe house" have been separated about two million RSD. Ministry of Labour and Social Policy provided a million RSD from the national budget, and French company Msje Brikolaž "as the first donor, has earmarked about half a million in goods and equipment. A great contribution gave the company DIN “Philip Morris” over the project "The Art of giving." Mayor Milos Simonovic expect that socially responsible companies and non-governmental sector with their donations be able to enable the sustainability of regional safe house, and that the capacity of the house will meet the needs of the entire region of southeast Serbia. With the help of donors will be built and gym for children under 14 who will stay in the house.

When it comes to women victims of violence, the member of City Council Dušica Davidovic said that the priority would be their economic empowerment, because a large number of women, due to lack of funds for life, returns to his husband that they were abused.  The president of  Palilula Municipality, Prof Dr Igor Novakovic, expressed satisfaction with the project, obtaining necessary approvals, successfully carried out in a very short time and that citizens of Palilula have new content and employment.

At the same location, about ten meters from the regional "Safe house", will be opened and police office. Completion of preparatory works will create the conditions for complete decentralization of the Police department in Nis. According to classification, in the future office will operate 125 branch officials and this will be the largest police office in the territory of city of Nis- emphasized the president Novakovic. It is expected that a police office Palilula will be opened almost at the same time as the regional safe houses, which will be of great importance for victims of domestic violence who will feel much more safer.

On this occasion this space from Palilula Municipality visited the Milan Djurdjevic, president of Assembly, Boban Mikic, member of Municipal Council, Bojan Ilic, Head of Municipal Administration and Slavoljub Vlajkovic, JP “Nis stan” and Milos Otasevic, director of Institute of Education of Youth .
